WELLINGTON WOOL SALE

BROKERS’ REPORTS.

MURBAY, ROBERTS AND CO. Murray, Roberts and Co. report:— catalogue consisted of 3,662 bales, mainly crossbred, with some lots of finer sorts, halfbred and merino, and many good parcels of lambs wool. We experienced an exceedingly keen sale, selling almost the total catalogue under the hammer. Competition was well spread, all sections of the trade bidding freely. Probably the bulk of the wool went to Bradford, but Continental representatives were considerably in evidence. .America was operating on the better class wools, and bought fairly freely. Lambs’ wool was in very ' strong demand, land the prices realised for good lambs show an advance of up to Id per lb on last sale’s level. Pieces and bellies also came under very strong competition, and prices for these show some appreciation from Mst sale’s rates. Generally speaking we should say that the market was about a halfpenny better than January level; occasionally, possibly up to Id in some sorts.
