THE GRAND. June Mathis, the noted film writer, wrote “The Greater Glory,” which opens .at The Grand to-night for la three nights’ season. ‘‘The Greater Glory” is a film drama of post-war Vienna, once the gayest city of the Austrian empire. The picture is an adaptation of Edith O’Shaughnessy’s famous novel, “Viennese Medley.” Miss Mathis wrote many of the greatest scenarios ever screened, including “The Four Horsemen,” “Blood and Sand.” The picture treats of the metamorphosis gone through by *a large Viennese family of the better sort following the war. The central character, that of a family maiden aunt who is the protecting angel of the entire family, is played by Lucy Beaumont. She was selected for the part only after more than 300 character women were found unable to measure up the exacting demands of the role. In a cast comprising 20 rrMjor players, with Anna Q. Nilsson, Conway Tearle, May Allison, lan Keith and Jean Hersholt in the principal roles, are to be found Marcia Manon, Hale Hamilton, Edwhrd Earle, Virginia Southern, Katherine Chambers, Isabel Keith, Cora Macey, Carrie Dtaumery, Thur Fairfax, Boris Karloff and George Billings, besides players in secondary roles. The picture is presented in ten reels and will be proceeded at 7.20 p.m. sharp by Richard Talmadge in “The Night Patrol. ’ ’ No Matinee To-Day.
There will not bo a matinee to-day or to-morrow owing to renovations being carried out by tho management and the only matinee for this programme will be o n Wednesday afternoon. Schts for to-night, to-morrow or Wednesday may be reserved without extra charge at Grand Theatre office.
