STORM WREAKS HAVOC
DEATH ROLL MOUNTING TREMENDOUS DAMAGE IN AMERICA SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 17. With at least 24 dead and property damage expected to total several million dollars as the result of the unprecedented rains land snowstorms in California, Utah, Nevada, and Arizona since the beginning of the week, the forecast to-day was for continued rains. The floods forced 5000 residents in Southern California cities to flee from their homes. The damage to bridges alone in Los Angeles is 1,000,000 dollars. Communication with San Diego is completely severed except by sea and radio. The wrind toppled over hundreds of oil derricks in tho Taft district. The death list from snowslides near Fresno has reached 13.
