AIRSHIP FLIGHTS
ESKLAND TO AUSTRALIA PREPARATORY WORK PROGRESSING Received Feb. 16. 6.30 p.m. LONDON, Feb. lb. Though it is considered that it will be at lea,st two years before airships are likely to voyage to Australia, the Air Ministry is anxious to have the meteorological data completed as quickly as possible. A tendency has arisen among advocates of airships to conclude that certain masts should bo erected at Paiwin, Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth, but the Air Ministry’s preliminary meteorological survey, as outlined at the Imperial Conference, definite*^ - limited the masts to those at Perth and Melbourne, as offering the most stable conditions. It is expected that the Air Department’s delegation now on its wav cut will endorse this, after which it rs hoped that Mr Bruce will indicate the extent to which Australia is willing fo co-operatc in the preparatory work, and also in the erection of masts.
