THE TOWN BRIDGE
Sir, —As several of your readers have lately had something to say about the City Council, I would also like a word. Last Sunday, I took a fancy for a walk (across the river towards Putiki. I did not expect to see the main part of the bridge in a spotless state, but I was surprised at the filthy state of the footway. It looked like the floor of a cowshed. The filth had evidently been blown across from the roadway. It could not have been swept for months, for there were actually gUass and thistles growing on the ledges and in corners. This is a positive fact as anyone can see for himself. Is the Council’s revenue so small that it cannot afford a clean-up? AROMA
