PRINCE’S WAR RECORD ONE OF THE “OLD CONTEMPTIBLES’ ’ LONDON, Feb. 15. The Prince of Wales inspected 260 of the “Old Contemptible^” at Hackney, including Private Godley, tho first man to win the Victoria Cross in the war, whom the Prince happened to detect and congratulated. On going to the British Legion Club the Prince signed the book as a full member of the “Old Contemptibles Association. ’ ’ As ho pinned on the badge a bystander growled, “ ’Ow does ’e get that ? ’ ’ Like lightning came the reply from another East Ender, “Why ’e camo out in October, didn’t ’e. ’E’s as much a ‘Contemptible’ as you.”
