HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE Patrons at His Majesty’s Theatre tonight and ti morrow night should receive full value for the price ptaid for admission. ‘‘The Bat” and “The Auction Block” are the main picture features, while Jackie Clark provides the personal entertainment.. “The Bat” is one sensation after another, with no solution until the moment the story gives its secret up. There are attempted murders and sudden encounters on every floor of the seemingly haunted mansion, and its spooky garrets are filled with bales of money. There is a hysterical slavey who jumps at every shadow that crosses the wall, land a comedy detective who butts in to add complications. There is the shuddery, expectant, and destructive atmosphere of unexplained doings, with a dozen people under suspicion all at once. Romance shines undefeated throughout all the troublesome plots and counter plots. A talented trio of screen players—Eleanor Boardman, Charles Ray and Sally O ’Neill—fill the leading roles in “The Auction Block,” which is the supporting feature. It is an adaptation of the famous novel of the same name by Rex Beach, a writer of international fame. Little Jackie Clark is an Australian prodigy of seven, who entertains in song, dance and impersonations. MUNICIPAL PICTURES Commencing to-morrow at the Opeiia House for a season of four nights is a special Paramount attraction —‘ ‘ Diplomacy. ’’ As the title indicates, the ;>tury is connected with political transactions but is presented in such a manner as to make an intriguing theme. Throughout the atmosphere of international mystery there runs a charming land absorbing romance in which the popular players Blanche Sweet, Neil Hamilton, Arlotte Marchal, Matt Moore, Earle Williams and Arthur Edmund Carewe are prominent.
