DIVIDED ON STRIKE ISSUE BIG CENTRES AGAINST PROPOSAL SYDNEY, Fob. 15. The voting at the aggregate meettugs on tho northern coal fields shows that the miners arc divided on the strike issue. At the most populous centres the proposals of the Central Council for a were defeated, while a number ©f the smaller centres voted in favour pf them. So far not sufficient returns are to hand to indicate whether the council’s proposals will be carried, but it is certain that the issue will be closely contested. BACK TO WORK MINERS RESUME TO-DAY MEN’S DECISIVE VOTE Received Feb. 16, 1.30 a-m. SYDNEY, Feb. 15. The northern executive has instructed the coal miners to return to work to-morrow. The president, Mr Hoare, said the rank and file showed by vote at the aggregate nuttings that they did not approve of tho Federation Council’s resolutions, and the executive had no alternative but to advise the men to return to work. THE FEDERAL AiTirJDE NO ACTION TILL MEN RESUME MELBOURNE, Feb. 15. The Rt Hon. 8. M. Brace, in a stntetnent, said that the Federal Government would take no action in regard to the muling dispute until the men returned to work.
