HUNDREDS DEAD
A TERRIFIC SHOCK EARTHQUAKE IN JUGO-SLAVTA. THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HOMELESS. Received Feb. 15, 9.15 pjnLONDON, Feb. 14. Hundreds of people are dead as the result of an earthquake centred in Stolac, Jugo-Slavia. ‘ A landslide overwhelmed twelve houses in Serajcvo, while numbers of railway stations and hotels were destroyed between Spalato and Mostar. Fifty deaths are reported in the neighbourhood of Sarajevo, but the numbers dead elsewhere are not known. Thousands of people are homeless. Troops are assisting Red Cross workers. Every building in Stolac was damaged. Minor shocks are reported from central and southern Italy.
