THE SANDERS CUP BETTY WINS THIRD RACE (Per Pres* Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 15. In the third race for the Sanders Cup, Betty finished a minute and a-half ahead of Avalon, with Rona next. Two minutes behind were Murihiku and Winifred. Fourth Race to Rona The fourth race this afternoon resulted in Rona (Auckland) obtaining her first win. Betty was second, Avalon third and Murihiku fourth. In the fifth race to-morrow only Betty, Avalon and Rona will compete, the others having been eliminated. THE CORNWELL CUP AUCKLAND BOYS LEADING [ Per Press Association, ] CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 15. The third race for the Cornwell Cup this morning was won by Sea Pearl (Auckland) with Winsome (Hawke’s Bay) second. Gadfly (Wellington) won the race but was disqualified for fouling a buoy and the placings were: Auckland 1, Hawke’s Bay 2, Christchurch 3, Lyttelton 4, Otago 5. Southland did not finish. In the fourth race this afternoon Gadfly for the fourth time crossed the lino first. Her superiority makes it certain that the crew drawing the boat is sure of a win. This time the Napier crew were the lucky boys. The race resulted: Hawke’s Bay 1, Southland 2, Auckland 3, Lyttelton 4, Christchurch Auckland has now two wins, Southland one and Hawke’s Bay one. Otago has drawn Gadfly for to-morrow’s race.
