SANDERS CUP AVALON WINS SECOND RACE (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 14. Avalon (Hawke’s Bay) won the second <ace fur the Sanders Cup this afternoon, in an exciting finish. Avalon fought the Canterbury boat Betty all the way, and thoroughly deserved her win. Peggy (Wellington) was third and Rona (Auckland) fourth. THE CORNWELL CUP. AUCKLAND BOAT WINS [ Per Preen Association. ] CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 14. In the Cornwell Cup race sailed this morning Winsome, sailed by Christchurch boys, led the fleet home, but because the race occupied a minute and a-half over the maximum allowed, the judges declared the race off. The race was re-sailed in the afternoon and resulted: Auckland 1, Lyttelton 2, Christchurch 3, Southland 4, Wellington 5, Hawke’s Bay 6, Otago 7.
