PIRATES AMATEUR CLUB JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS RESULTS. The Pirate Amateur Club’s junior championships were held last week. There were largo fields in the various events and good finishes were witnessed. Results are as under:— 100 Yards Flat.—J. O’Brien 1, C. Spriggens 2, F. Weir 3. Excellent finish. Time 11 l-ssecs. 220 Yards Flat.—N. Ball 1, C. Spriggens 2, F. Weir 3. Close finish. Time 25secs. 440 Yards Flat.—C. Spriggens 1, F. Weir 2, B. Solomon 3. Won easily. Time 58 4-ssec. 880 Yards Flat.—B. Solomon 1, C. Spriggens 2, F. Weir 3. Solomon had an easy win. Time 2min. 16secs. One Mile Flat.—B. Solomon 1, A. Sexton 2, F. Weir 3. Solomon and Sexton fought out a good finish. Time smin. 21secs.
Long Jump. —N. Ball, 19ft. 4ins. 1, J. O’Brien, 17ft. Sin. 2, D. McGonagle 16ft. Ilins. 3.
Hop, Step and Jump.—N. Ball, 40ft. 1, J. O’Brien, 37ft. sAins. 2, C. Spriggens 37ft. sin. 3.
High Jump.—D. McGonagle, J. O’Brien and A. Sexton tied for first place—height 4ft. 9in. Half-mile Cycle.—G. Kenny 1, J. Alp 2. Won by a length. Time Imin. 10 3-ssec.
One Mile Cycle.—G. Kenny 1, A, Dawson 2. Won easily. Time 2min. 37secs.
Half-mile Walk. —G. Jones 1, D. McGonagle 2. Solomon finished second but was disqualified for running. Time 4mins. 52 4-ssecs.
PADDOCK IN FORM A WORLD'S RECORD BROKEN NEW YORK, Feb. 12. Chas. Paddock, in sprinting 250 metres in 27.6 seconds to-day, broke the world’s record of 31.2 seconds for the distance.
