TREATMENT IN CANADA SALVATION ARMY’S METHODS. SERIOUS CRITICISM MADE [By Telegraph—Per Frees Assn.— Copyright.] . Received Feb. 13, 9.25 p.m. OTTAWA, Feb. 12. The Government Ini migration Department warmly replied to criticisms made by Commissioner Lamb, who in London charged Canada with inadequately supporting the Salvation Army's immigration work. The Department alleges that the Army is collecting from the British bey settlers their first wage» in Canada, even more than the tall amount jointly granted by the Canadian end British Governments and that the boys believe they are indebted to the Army f'.r such monetary aid. The Department -s- -i.es that the Salvation Army’s immigration methods arc less altruist’; than is g€i eially believed, and should be completely overhauled.
