Sir, —I do not pose as an expert, but it appears to me that to write as follows “Along our right of way ‘is’ produced oats, corn, etc,” the word “is” would be correct; but, if paraphrased thusly: “Oats, corn, etc., are produced along our right of way,” then the word “are” would bo correct. It is quite apparent that the Universities mentioned in your article in Saturday’s “Chronicle” arrived at their decision by paraphrasing. L.F.
