Auckland (who had lost 2 for 212), batted nearly all day, the innings closing for 539. Additional scores: Dacre 209, Alcott 87, Player 36, Cooper 66. Zimbmerman took 3 for 47, and Shepherd, 3 for 81. Rain caused an adjournment for an hour towards the end of Auckland's innings. Otago has scored 10 runs without loss.
