UNION PROPOSED
OF KAWARAU COMPANIES DAM PROVING A SUCCESS (Per Press Association) DUNEDIN, Sept. 4. At a meeting of directors of tht Kawara* Company and a committee representing the general body of claimholders, a suggestion that it would be in the interests of all if the amalgamation of all the companies and interests concerned could bo brought about was favourably considered, and a committee representing both parties was set up to consider the details of such a scheme. The feeling was that the undertaking would then be on a more sound foundation to carry out the necessary works to ensure the success of the scheme. The mooting agreed that the dam was a complete success. It had performed the function for which it wai designed and constructed. The volume of water at present passing down the Kawarau was due to the melting snows and consequent freshes on the Shotovcr, Arrow, and Nevis River watersheds.
