The “Daily Chronicle’’ states that as a result of the Mosul Treaty, Britain will be able to evacuate Mesopotamia well within four years after the ratification of peace with Turkey in August, 1924. By the new treaty the Government has retrieved the blunder of commitment to further indeterminate occupation. Mr Martin Donohoe expresses the opinion that industrial and mineral development will receive a stimulus now that the ever present spectre has been laid. The question exists of whether an oil pipe running through Mosul across the Syrian Desert to a Palestine port can be profitably laid, in view of the possibility of a Turkish petroleum company striking oil in the Mosul area. t
