NARROW ESCAPE

TRIMMER BURIED IN COAL. DIFFICULT RESCUE WORK IN BUNKER. [Per Presss Association] DUNEDIN, Feb. 2. Daniel de Courcey, aged 20 years, a trimmer on the steamer Manuka, had a narrow escape from serious injury tonight. As the steamer was leaving Dunedin ho was jammed in a fall of coal in a bunker, and the captain put into Port Chalmers. As the coal wasjlug away more fell in. An acetone plant was brought into use, but before the bulkhead was cut away. De Courcey was liberated. He was in an exhausted state, but no bones were broken.
