WEMBLEY

LETTER FROM THE PRINCE WISHED TO SHARE GUARANTORS’ BURDEN. LONDON, Dec. 22. The Prince of Wales, in a letter, recalls that before going to India in 1921 he appealed for £1,000,000 for preliminary work in connection with the Exhibition. The Prince acknowledges the generous response of the guarantors in fulfilling their promises in the same generous spirit in which they gave, and he wished to share their burdens in a small degree. Mr. Thomas, on behalf of the liquidators, commenting on the magnanimous and spontaeous act, emphasised that the Prince was not a guarantor and was under no obligation.
