WAIKUPA ROAD

SCHOOL’S FINAL GATHERING. On Friday afternoon an enjoyable little, picnic was held in the grounds of Mr. A. N. McLeod, Okoia. The occasion was the final breaking up of the Waikupa Road School, and a farewell to Mrs. Taylor, who for the past two years has ably carried out the duties of teacher. This little school, which started seven or eight years ago with two pupils, has this yebr numbered nine on its roil; however, it will now lapse, as Mrs. Taylor will be temporarily absent from the district. For all its brief existence, the school has quite a creditable record the only three pupils it has presented for the proficiency examination having all passed—Kathleen Jones two years ago. and this year Molly and Betty Taylor. During the afternoon, Mr. Frank Jones, in a short speech, expressed the appreciation and thanks of the parents for the good work done by Mrs. Taylor, and, on behalf of the parents and children, presented her with a silver entree dish.
