Speaking at. the adjourned conferone? with represent!;! t i ves of engineering employees and workers, Sir Arthur Steel-Maitland said that he had been in communication with Continental Governments and had received replies from Germany and Belgium, to the effect that they were, willing to partici pate in a conference with a. xiew to establishing a uniform forty-eight hour week. No definite replies had been received from France and Daly, but further steps were being taken.
