THE GRAND THEATRE. TOM MIX IN “THE LUCKY HORSESHOE.” COMMENCES TO-DAY AT THE MATINEE. Thrills and more thrills, some of them on a western rancho, others in old Spain during the time of Don Juan—that is what the Tom Mix fans may expect when they go to see the “Lucky Horseshoe,” the latest Mix picture which will he shown at the Grand Theatre, beginning at the matinee this afternoon. The first thrill comes when Tom races after a swiftly moving train on Tony, with Billie Dove in his arms, and places her safely aboard. Next comes the time when he leaps upon Tony ami dashes after the runaway horses, which are headed towards the edge of a precipitous cliff with the girl in a flimsy little carriage behind them.

Then there is one thrill after an- , ; other interspersed with the comedy and i romance in the sequence in which he ; dreams he is Don Juan. The scene ; shifts to old Spain and the gorgeous , palaces of the old Spanish grandees, j culminating in his leap over the tall 1 parapet and his escape with the lovely ' Dona Isabella. Mix is supported by an j excellent cast, including J. Farrell Macj Donald. Billie Dove and Ann Penning- . ton. J. G. Blystonc directed the production. On Saturday evening, the members I of the Junior Bible Class at St. James’ ' Church, AVanganui East, held a most I enjoyable break-up social. Games and ■ competitions were entered into with : zest and amusement by those present, -and the evening was unimously voted ! a success. The winners of the compe- . titions were awarded boxes of choco- ' lates, and supper was served by the j ladies of the Senior Bible Class, hssisI ted by the juniors. Air. Mills caused ’ much amuseemnt by his humorous ! items, and Mrs. Kay obligingly accompanied on llu- piano.
