BALDWIN’S PARABLE
THE CABINET ELEVEN LONDON, Oct. 21. The Prime Minister, Mr Baldwin, speaking at the Colchester oyster feast, said: “Our team is doing good 'work. I am merely the shipper, 'rhe team has no tail, and can bat right down to the eleventh man. “Mr Chamberlain has returned from the ‘miracle of Locarno, 7 which creates the will to peace in Europe for the first time since the war, and represents one of the best centuries ever made on a sticky wicket. Air Churchill, as wicketkeeper, can be relied on to catch every sixpence. ’’
Air Churchill, who hinted at a higher income tax in 1927, in the event of the Cabinet 7 s present economy campaign not achieving a complete success, was hooted by unemployed as he left the hall.
