BIBLE IN SCHOOLS
SUPPORT OF PARLIAMENTARY CANDIDATES THE LEAGUE WELL PLEASED [Per Press Association.] PALMERSTON N., Nov. 5. In a press interview, the Rev. Harold T. Peat, organising secretary of the Bible in Schools League, stated that the League was naturally well pleased tb&t so many candidates in favour of Bill had been returned to Parliament. The reasonableness and nonsectarian nature of the proposal was demonstrated, he said, by its general acceptance by the combined churches, which he represented, and also by a surprisingly large number of candidates who were willing to support the measure. Mr Peat personally had never been in favour of the right of entry, and had never supported it. The present proposal wns so free from the possibility of sectarian abuse that without reservation he could give it his whole hearted endorsement, and. in his official capacity, he had received abundant proof all over the Dominion that the people desired it.
