Both the Wanganui bands are to compete at the Dunedin Exhibition contest. Lieut. Buckley, of the Queen Alexandra’s will also conduct the Palmerston North Municipal Band. He states that the Manawatu players are progressing very well. That there is a distinctly rejuvenating effect about a fireworks display is well known. There is fi lure about the loud noises and the bright sparks that is irresistible. Some men succumbed to it last night at Cook’s Gardens. They “set the clock back” a good many years, and did what they no doubt did when they were boys—they climbed over the boundary fence in the darkness. The fireworks were for the benefit of the funds of the Queen Alexandra Band, too!
