The Arapawa sailed last evening for Onehunga. TAINUI’S DEPARTURE POSTPONED. The departure of the liner Tainui from Wellington for London has been postponed till day break on Sunday next, November 8. PORT HACKING S MOVEMENTS. The steamer Port Hacking, now at Bluff completing discharge and loading, leaves to-day for Timaru and Wellington, to complete loading. She is due at Wellington on November IU, and sails finally from Wellington on November 14 for London, via Panama. MOTOR SHIP’S PERFORMANCE. In November, 1921, the East Asiatic Company, Copenhagen, took delivery of a small motor ship, the Virginia, constructed at the Nakskov yard and engined by the Holeby Diesel Engine Works. The vessel was destined for the coasting trade in the West Indies. A report has been prepared by the superintendent engineer of the company on the performance of this ship. Since commissioning in November, 1921, she has made 32 voyages and run a total distance of 70.256 miles. The average speed has been 7.45 knots and the average consumption 1.55 tons per day of 24 hours, corresponding to 139 gr per i.h.p. per hour, or about .3051 b. The longest non-stop run has been from San Domingo to London, 4412 miles, in 621 hours, with a daily consumption of 1.50 tons. A single six-cylinder 540 i.h.p. Holeby Diesel engine is installed in this vessel, which has a capacity of 1000 tons, and is 170tt leng with a beam of 31ft»

CARINTHIA’S WORLD TOUR. Advice received states that the Carinthia sailed from New York on October 10 on her world cruise. The tour, which has been arranged by Messrs Raymond and Whitcomb and Company, tourist agents of New York, will cover 38,000 miles, and will be done in 149 days. The steamer, which will arrive at Auckland on December 21, will be the most luxurious passenger liner that has ever visited New Zealand, and the only steamer to travel around the world with tourists to call at Australian and New Zealand ports.
