Lyttelton, Oamaru, Timaru, Dunedin and Bluff. THE GALE. The Gale loaded at Wellington yesterday, Picton to-day and is due at Wanganui tomorrow. THE STORM. The Storm loaded at Timaru yesterday, Lyttelton to-day, Wellington to-morrow; due in Wanganui sth inst. THE GABRIELLA. The Gabriella is expected to sail from Castlecliff to-morrow for Melbourne via Greymouth. Messrs S. Holm and Co. advise:— ' THE HOLMDALE. The Holmdaie discharged here to-day and sailed last evening for Wellington and Southern ports. THE JOHN. The John loads in Timaru to-day, thence Lyttelton and Wellington, for Wanganui. THE PROGRESS. The Progress is due here to-day from New Plymouth. Messrs A. Hatrick and Co. advise:— THE KAPITI. The Kapiti loads cheese to-day, and sails later for Wellington. Messrs Cock and Co. advise:— THE REGULUS. The Regulus commences unloading operations to-day and sails later for Greymouth. Messrs Johnston and Co. advise:— THE ARAPAWA. The Arapawa sails to-day for Onehunga direct. PORT DARWIN. The Port Darwin leaves Gisborne on Thursday for Wanganui, thence Wellington, to complete loading for Home, and she sails finally from Wellington on November 18 for London, via Panama. PORT PIRIE THROUGH PANAMA. Cable advice received states that the steamer Port Pirie, en route from New York to Auckland, passed through Panama on October 30. PILOT LAUNCH ARAHINA. An interesting arrival in Port Nicholson on morning was the Wellington Haribour Board’s new jiilot launch, Arahina, from •Auckland. The vessel, which is to be used for (general pilot work, called at Tokomaru Bay, ’Gisborne and Napier o" her run down the coast. She was built by Mr. C. Bailey, junf., at Auckland, and her dimensions are:—Length. 70ft 2in ; depth, ."ft. 6d. The Arahina is fitted with a 140 h.p. Fairbanks-Morse four-cylinder Diesel engine, which gives her a speed of 10 knots. Heavy weather was experienced between Auckland and Napier, but the vessel behaved splendidly throughout. Captains McArthur and Trout were in command of the Ara.tina, <.nd with them were Mr. C. Bailey, junr., Mr. Tutton. chief engineer, Mr. Rutherford, second engineer.

PORT NICHOLSON. The Port Nicholson, now at New Plymouth, ! completing her discharge and loading, subsequently loads at Wanganui, Auckland, Gis- ; borne, Napier. Wellington, Lyttelton, and Port Chalmers, and sails finally from the latter port .on November 30 for Havre, Antwerp, and London, via Panama. KARU SOLD. i Acting under instructions from the Marshal in Admiralty. Messrs Fraser, Utcher and Co. have sold the three-masted schooner Karu for £lBOO. This vessel has been laid up at Sydney • for some months, and was sold in order to I liquidate debts which had accrued. PERSONAL. Captain W. Wahlstrom is now master of the Regulus, vice Captain C. Maylen, who is on holiday leave. I The death occurred at Sydney on October 13 of Cant-ain George Edward Hoyle, at the age of eighty years. For a number of years Captain Hoyle commanded ships carrying immigrants to Australian and New Zealand ports, under the Shaw. Savill and Albion Line flag.
