LIE DIRECT
CONTEMPTIBLE TRICK TO HOODWINK ELECTORS PRIME MINISTER EXPOSES OPPONENTS The executive of the Wanganui Reform League last night telegraphed to the Prime Minister, tho Hon. J. G. Coates, to the effect that, an advertisement in the Wanganui “Herald” had requested Wanganui electors to “please take note, the Prime Alinister has arrived at that stage that he is in a changing mood. The Hon. J. G. Coates stated at Feilding: ‘The alternative now was for the parties to go to the country and reconstruct (afterwards.’ Apparently as the Prime Alinister travels around the country he realises that he made a mistake. H : s Feilding pronouncement after leaving Wanganui and Afarton actually coin cides with what Air W. A. Veitch and Nationalists have been preaching al* along the line. There is only on« Wanganui candidate who takes tho panic view that the Hon. J. G. Cohtei expressed at Feilding. That candidate is W. A. Veitch.” Air Coates telegraphed last nigl tho following reply:— Your wire received. The alternative referred to in connection with fusion was ono which was net accopftiblo to the then Liberal Oppositionists, but now known as Iho Nationalists. The construction placed by ATr Veitch on this portion of my Feilding speech is another example of twisting by him, and in order that there should be no misunderstanding nn tho part of tho electors of Wanganui, T urge them, as strongly as I can. tn support the Government candidate. <Mr John Coull) (at the polls on Wednesday.
