She has won magnificent successes while croakers were saying “ It can’t be done.” Into her statutes her legislators have written new policies that other nations have later adopted. Her glorious warriors have written new epics of valour into the history of wars. Her administrators have blazed new trails along the pathway that leads to public health and happiness—her Child Welfare Work is the admiration of the world. Her “ All Blacks ” are unconquered and unexcelled in the world of sport. She is one of the most sober and healthy countries, because for many years she has GRANTED NO NEW LIQUOR LICENSES. One-sixth of her population lives in districts where by their vote the people have banished the open bar. She has reduced the hours of drink-selling, and limited the activities of the Liquor Traffic. NOBODY BUT THE LIQUOR SELLERS WANTS TO SEE THOSE ACTIVITIES INCREASED. Even under the present unfair ballot paper, it wants but a few more votes to carry Prohibition in New Zealand and enable her to abolish—root and branch—manufacture, importation, and sale of intoxicating beverages. State School Teachers appeal to New Zealanders to vote Prohibition for the sake of the children, and to get rid of “ Education’s Worst Enemy.” The Prisons Board appeals to New Zealanders to “Remove Temptation from our midst.” The Chief Justice declares that one-third of the cases before the Courts are due to drink. Vote out the Traffic that hampers progress—show the world what a British community can do to increase national well-being and prosperity. Vole Prohibition.
