(From the “Chronicle's” Special Correspondent.) The road from Raetihi to Tokaanu is now in very fair order, and the metalling of the spiral has now been completed by prison labour. This is a very fine piece of work, and the Prisons Department deserves great, praise for the manner in which it has conducted this work. The Tokaanu road from Wai marine is also under the control of the Prisons Department, and the graders are at present on this road . doing excellent work. With a few i more fine days the roughest parts will I bo smoothed down, and motorists can be asured of a good trip right to the I lake. | The fishing season in the Rotoruia disj trict opened on Sunday, and already ■ there, are a number of visiting anglers at Tokaanu and at eamps round the j lake. There is every indication that 1 this season will bo a very busy one, i und with the road in good order north I and south, motorists should be there j in numbers during the summer weeki ends. j 'l'ho now hotel at Tokaanu is now ! being built and the contractors.
