WELLINGTON SKIN, HIDE AND TALLOW SALE

FRIDAY’S REPORT. GOOD CATALOGUE AND FAIR PRICES. The various brokers report: We held our usual fortnightly sale of sheepskins, hides and tallow on October 30, when we submitted a good catalogue of all classes to a full attendance of exporters, tanners, fellmongers and the local trade. Sheepskins.— Competition was animated for the fine wools, prices being above id to per lb better than late i rates. Salties were a little easier. I Hides.—There was a good demand I for all specially prepared lots and we ■found heavies and mediums on a par 'with previous rates while lights were l-8d to id per lb better. Kip and yearling sold well and prices advanced id to id per lb, calf selling on ? par. ! Tallow. —Fail*demand, any change in prices being in buyers’ favour. For a line of good mixed butchers’we received 1355. per cwt. The following is the range of prices:—

i Sheepskins.—Halfbred 14d; fine crossbred, 13d to 14d; med./coarse crossbred, lid to 12$d; short to half wool, 7d to !ll|d; lambs, lid to 14d; dead and damaged crossbred, B|d to lid; inferior and badly damaged, 4d to B|d; pelts, 6|d to B£d; damp, salted and green, 6s to 12s 3d; pelts salted, 2s 7d to 3s; lambs salted, 2s 8d to 3s. i Hides.—Ox heavy, 701bs and over, 7 5-8 d to 8d; ox heavy, 591bs to 691bs, 7 5-8 d to 8 5-8 d; ox medium, 651bs to 581bs, not quoted; cow heavy, 531 bs and over. s£d to 6 3-8 d; cow medium, 451bs to 521bs, 6}d to 64d; cow light, 331bs to ! 441bs, 6id to G5-Bd;cut, slippy and inferior, 3fd to 5 7-8 d; bull stag, 2d to sd; yearlings, lllbs to IGlbs, 7d to 84d; yearlings, 171bs to 321bs, 7d to 7 5-8 d; ;calf med. —good, up to lOlbs, 114(1 to 'l2|d; calf damaged, up to lOlbs, 4Ad to l9id.
