LIST OF PRINCIPAL PRICES MANY PURCHASES FOR AUSTRA-I LIA Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., ! Ltd., who conducted tho dispersal sale of tho Ben Lomond Aberdeen Angus herd at tho homestead near Hastings on October 19 and 20, in conjunction with Messrs Hoadley, Son and Stewart, report that the attendance was largo and representative of tho whole of New Zealand and Australia, and that competition was keen and spirited throughout. The reputation of the herd, which held a great prize-winning record, atracted a great deal of attention from Australian breeders, and between their representatives and those of tho Dominion there was some very keen bidding, several times prices be- I ing forced above 200 guineas. The | owner of tho herd, Mr Robert A. Bell. Havelock North, had his arrangements in excellent order, and starting at 11 a.m. on the opening day 204 head of the females were passed through the ring and sold under the hammer, for n total of 4531 guineas. These-were all females, two-year-olds and over. The stud and run bulls and yearling heifers were disposed of on the second dav. when bidding was of a most spirited nature. 162 head being of in less than four hours. The 3 6b head realised a total of £10,600, a great realisation in these times. Tho top price of the sale was secured for the winning yearling at the last Koval Show, Helen TH. of Ben Lomond, bv Count of Wood.ands ex Helen of Ben Lomond. Mr A. b. Lanvon. Tikokino, Hawke’s Bay. was ihe purchaser at 260 guineas. Helen of Ben Lomond realised 90 guineas to the bid of Mr David Allan, of M right. Stephenson and Co., Ltd., and the same liuver secured her other daughter, Helen TT. of Ben Lomond, at. 10., gutm eas- Rubv of Ben Lomond realised the second 'highest price for females of 220 guineas, Mr Carlyon also securing this three-vear-old heifer, which ha> been undefeated in the show ring wani ning the reserve championship at the I Roval Show. Turk of Bon Lomond, an outstanding type, awakening keen interest. A spirited contest ensued between Mr C. E. Robertson ("acting for Un Australian breeder) and Mr Carlyon. and amidst considerable aplauso the latter triumnhed at ihe great price of 220 guineas.
