' A London cable states that Rir James Allen, as the result of a severe I chill contracted at Geneva, is confined to his bed. An Auckland telegram announces the death of Mrs Dickson, wife of Afr J. S. Dickson, member for Parnell, who is again standing at the general election. Mrs Dickson died yesterday afternoon after a long illness. A Reuter cablegram from London states that Earl Jellicoe’s daughter Gwendoline, who was recently operated upon for appendicitis, underwent a second operation and is progressing as well as can be expected.
