The use of artificial fertilisers in New Zealand is little more than a mere detail compared with the way they arc used in England. ' Under war-time control, it was found that the average weight per fleece of all British wools, including blackfaced was just 51b. Washed Lincoln aver aged 1011 b per. fleece; Welsh (washed fine) averaged 241 b; and blackfaced (greasy) averaged 511 b. For the year ending-June 30, 462,795 bales of wool were sold in Now Zealand, 465,213 being in grease and 2582 scoured. The return from this quantity was £13,537,343, compared with a return of £11,623,924 from 503,806 bales the previous year.
