KEEN COMPETITION. The N.Z. Farmers’ Co-op. Distributing Co., Ltd., report: There was a yarding of 300 sheep and 50 head of cattle at our Taihapue sale on Wednesday, Quotations: — Sheep.—Ewe hoggets, to 325; wether hoggets 29s 8d; medium mixed hoggets, 235; fat ewes, 35s Id; shorn ewes, 27s Id; shorn wethers, 29s lOd. Cattle—Pat bullocks, £ll 12s 6d; forward bullocks, £9; fat cows, from £9 5s to £l2 12s 6d; cows with calves at foot, £3; Jersey bull, £4 ss. At our Marton sale on Thursday we yarded 700 sheep and 300 head of cattle and 20 pigs. Competition on all stock was keen. Fat cattle sold exceptionally well, a very nice line of prime bullocks on account of Messrs Smith Bros., Tutaenui, realising £l7 14s. Fat heifers, on. account of the same clients, realised to £l2 15s. Weaner pigs were also in good demand. Quotations:— Sheep.—M.a. ewes, with 100 per cent, lambs at foot, 445; aged ewes, lambs, at foot, in only fair condition, 36s to 375; forward wethers, 355; shorn fat ewes, 28s 7d; forward woolly ewes, 32s 6d; store woolly ewes, 24s to 26s 6d; m.s. hoggets, 33s 6d; cull rams, 13s to 16s; forward shorn ewes, 20s 9d; cull shorn ewes, Ss 9d. Cattle.—Fat bullocks, £l7 14s; fat heifers, £lO 7s 6d to £l2 15s; light heifers, £5 10s to £6 15s store bullocks, £8; P.A. yearling steers, £4 10s; do. heifers, £3 0s 6d; 2-year Hereford heifers, £3 12s; yearling Hereford heifers, £2 Is; yearling steers, £3; 2-year Shorthorn steers, £4 19s to £6 17s 6d; store cows, £2 Ils to £3; cull cows, 30s; springing heifers, from £5 10s to £6; others, from £4 12s 6d to £5 12s. Pigs.—Stores, 37s to £2; weaners, 23s to 30s.
