On the arrival of the Gabriella at Greymouth next week, the vessel’s crew are to give a grand ball in the Town Hail in aid of the "Greymouth Hospital Old People’s Home. An energetic committee has completed all arrangements for the function, the success of which is assured. Messrs Wilson and Fisk, of the Gabriella, are treasurer and secretary of the ball committee, respectively. In addition to the ha]l, a lifeboat demonstration will be given by the crew of the vessel. The Titoki sailed for Nelson and the West Coast last evening. ’THE DORSET. The Dorset sailed from the roadstead last night for Wellington where she is due to-day to continue her loading for West Coast ports of Great Britain. The vessel sails from Wellington next Thursday for Lyttelton and clears the latter port to-morrow week for Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester, and Avonmouth. THE MARTABAN. To discharge New York cargo at the Castlecliff wharf in January the Martaban has been chartered by the C. & D. Line to load to New York for New Zealand ports. The vessel is time! to leave United States at the end of No•ember for Auckland. Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and Wanganui. Her tonnage is 5118, length 410 ft., breadth 52ft., depth 28ft. The Martaban was built at Glasgow in 1904. TONGARIRO FOR LONDON. The Tongariro is due at Wellington on Sunday from Lyttelton to complete loading, and sails finally from there on November 5 for London, via Panama and Curacao. THE KENT. The steamer Kent sailed from Dunedin yesterday afternoon for Wellington, where repairs to the holds which were damaged by fire recently, when the vessel was at Auckland, will be completed.

THE PORT NICHOLSON. 'i The Port Nicholson left Wellington on I Thursday evening for New Plymouth to com- ; plete her discharge and to commence loading, i She subsequently loads at Wanganui, Auckland, Gisborne. Napier, Wellington, Lyttelton, ' and Port Chalmers, and sails finally from the ' latter port on November 30 for Havre, Ant- ; werp, and London, via Panama. RARANGA’S PROGRAMME. Now loading at Timaru the Raranga leaves on Monday for Picton, thence Wellington (November 5 to November 10) and Auckland to ! complete, and sails finally from Auckland on ! November 15 for London, via Monte Video and I Teneriffe. SUFFOLK FROM LIVERPOOL. An uneventful voyage of forty-five days i from Liverpool was experienced by the Fed- ! eral Line steamer Suffolk, which arrived at Auckland at half-past 9 o’clock on Wednesday morning. The Suffolk loaded her general . cargo at West Coast of United Kingdom ports and embarked her third-class passengers, who numbered about three hundred and ninety, at Liverpool. She cleared the last-named port i on September 12 and met favourable weather ; across the Atlantic. Transit through 1 the Panama Canal was obtained on October i 2. and the steamer resumed her voyage. When ; crossing the Pacific the Suffolk made a stay ■of about four hours off Pitcairn Island. The ! favourable weather experienced during the ' early part of the voyage continued until two i days’ steam of Auckland, when boisterous conditions were encountered. Passengers for southern cities left Auckland by Wednesday evening's express. After unloading the local portion of her cargo the ’.‘earner is to proceed to Wellington. Lytte’# in, Oamaru, and Dunedin to put out the balance.

Mugford, second and fourth officers of the Tahiti, have been relieved by Messrs W. Jones and W. P. Gould, respectively. Mr. J. McNeill, second officer of the Corinna, has left the vessel, and Mr. C.
