A NOVEL IDEA
GUY FAWKES’ COMPETITION This is the day of novelty. The latest to be announced is a competition between the boys of the district in a Guy Fawkes’ competition. It is being promoted by the Queen Alexandra Band. Two classes, boys under ten and those over ten years of age and in groups of three are invited to submit entries in the competition which will be held on Thursday evening next. Ail who make entries will assemble at the ; Drill Hall and then parade behind the j band to Cook’s Gardens. The judging i will then take place and the prizes : awarded. Following that event will be I a great display of fireworks by the Wainoni Park Company, who will submit the latest pyrotechnical novelties, i The excellent displays of this company are well-known and much in demand. :It might be stated here that the displays of the Wainoni Park Company are in such demand that a huge display costing £5OO-has been ordered for I firing at Dunedin on New Year’s Eve, : while the company are also giving j further displays on Thursday next at, : Hamilton, New Plymouth, Hawera ■ and Christchurch in addition to that announced for Cook’s Gardens. Full particulars for next Thursday’s competition are given in to-day’s advertising columns.
