FLIGHT TO NEW ZEALAND
SMITH IS CONFIDENT TALKING IT OVER MELBOURNE, Oct. 21. The Controller of Civil Aviation (Colonel Brinsmead) said to-day that Captain Kingsford Smith, when on his way to Sydney to obtain a flying-boat, had called on him, and they had informally discussed the proposed flight from Australia to Now Zealand.
Captain Kingsford Smith was confident that he would be successful. Colonel Brinsmead said he had not heard from Captain Kingsford Smith since he went to Sydney. Although the proposal was not yet officially before the department, he was looking forward to la definite announcement of Captain Kingsford Smith’s plans.
