JAMES ROGERS Selected LABOUR Candidate TO THE • ELECTORS OF WANGANUI Ladies and Gentlemen, In offering myself as a candidate of the Official Labour Party for your support at the forthcoming election, I will, if elected, work constantly for all that makes for the development and progress of our City, and New Zealand in general. I stand pledged to support tho policy of the New Zealand Labour Party, which will <lo away with poverty and slums and the extremes of riches and poverty so glaringly manifest In all countries to-day. It will mitigate the evils of profiteering, production for profit, and land aggregation. It is a policy that will give the people the right to the fruits of the land and the, product of their labour. It provides for the abolition of the Legislative Council, the removal of the political disabilities of women, and the giving of full political rights te all State employees. The adoption of Proportional Representation, the Referendum, the Initiative and the Recall, for which we stand, would secure much-needed reform and control of Parliamentary representation; and State Bank and Public Ownership of the national utilities, State Shipping, State Farms, State Insurance, etc., would work an immense change in the nation’s life. Other planks provide for the education of children at th< charge of the State, free medical and dental treatment te all children.
