BOXING
VEBCOE AND GRIFFITHS DRAW. [Per Press Association.! BLENHEIM, Oct. 28. One of the best boxing contests seen in Marlborough for many years eventuated last night in a professional fifteenrounder between “Dicky” Vereoe (Blenheim), 9.0, and Tommy Griffiths (Dunedin), 8.10, for a purse of £72 10s. The decision was a draw after a splendid, clean, open battle. Both were- very fit and maintained great speed throughout After his defeat by Carroll, Vorcoe’s display caused profound surprise. Griffiths boxed brilliantly, connecting cleanly with his left hand.
