WAVERLEY TENNIS AND CROQUET CLUB. (From the “Chronicle’s” Special Correspondent). The annual meeting of the above was held on Thursday last. Present. —Mr A. G. Wallace (chair), Mrs Jewell, Miss Cleary, Messrs 11. Bradmore, C. Browning, J. Andrews, F. Tilley, R. Cathie, G. Morrison. E. v. Dallison, C. J. Dickie, P. Bremer, H. Myers, 11. Sherbourne (hon. secretary). Balance Sheet. Despite the very heavy expenditure of last season upon the preparation of new courts, volleying board, etc., the balance-sheet showed a credit of £lO Is 4d. The chairman said he had much pleasure in moving adoption of the report. This was seconded by Air Cathie. New Members. New members elected were: Mrs D. Jackson, Miss Sutherland, Mrs Salter, Miss Howie, Messrs Rumford, Mayer, Halliday, Mills and Webster. Election of Officers. The election of officers resulted as under: President, Air Andrews; vicepresidents, Messrs A. G. Wallace am? C. J. Dickie; committee, Alessrs R. Cathie, P| Bremer, C. Browning, H. Bradmore, F. Tilley, Airs Jewell, and H. Sherbourne; ground committee, Alessrs H. Bradmore, C. J. Dickie, and 11. Sherbourne; Lon. auditor, l\lr H. Bradmore; delegate to Taranaki Association, Air J. C. Nicholson.
Thanks. The secretary was instructed to thank Mr J. C. Nicholson for his valuable services as club delegate. On the motion of Mr A. G. Wallace, seconded by Air H. Bradmore, the club unanimously placed on record its appreciation of the services rendered by the late Air H. P. Metcalfe. A motion of thanks to the Domain Board for its generosity in donating £4O was also carried. Hearty votes of thanks were accorded tho ladies of the club for their work in the social life of the club, and to Alessrs Sherbourne and Wallace for their untiring efforts in the club’s interests. Invitations. Invitations from both Hawera and New Plymouth clubs, extending a wdcome to local members who could be present on the opening days of these clubs, were received. Subscriptior '. The annual subscription was no* altered, except in the case of children, their subscription being reduced from 10s to ss, with the stipulation that children were not to be allowed the use of the courts on Saturdays. Opening Day. The opening day was fixed for November 7. Trophy Donation. The secretary stated that Airs Alitcalfe wished to donate a trophy for combined doubles play. It was resolved that Mrs Afitcalfe bO thanked for her generosity.
