COMMENTS BY CHIEF JUSTICE LIGHT LIST IN WELLINGTON [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Oct. 27. The Supreme Court criminal session to-day before the Chief Justice. In his charge to the Grand Jury, the Judge said: “I am glad to be able to inform you that the list this session is very small, and that there are really no serious cases. So it is perfectly plain that what was mentioned on a previous occasion is still true the crime wave which followed upon the war has ceased. All of the eases are simple ones.’’ James Ward and Charles Morgan pleaded guilty to theft and breaking and entering. They were remanded for sentence. JUDGE BEED’S COMMENTS. A DISTINCT IMPROVEMENT. [Per Press Association.! AUCKLAND, Oct. 27. In his charge to the Grand Jury at the criminal sessions of the Supreme Court, Judge Reed said that the average of recent sessions throughout New Zealand showed a distinct improvement. It was a matter for congratulation that not' a single case was due directly or indirectly to inability to obtain ' employment. With reference to motor speeding as being largely due to concrete roads, the Judge said that something would have to be done in the matter.
