MANAWATU SHOW
THREE DAYS NEXT WEEK 'GOOD DISPLAY ASSURED Next week the Manawatu Show will eventuate at Palmerston North and it should be noted that owing to the election the show days will now be Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday and not. as previously advertised, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The pro gramme otherwise remains unaltered. Entries are now finally closed, and though smaller in number than last year, the standard of the exhibits coin ing forward will he maintained and in many instances improved upon. The ‘first three North Island shows, namely Hawke ’s Bay, Carterton and Manawatu have all suffered in the volume of theii entries through the demands of the second Royal Show, which is this year being held in Canterbury, and the opinion is growing that the Royal Show should he the first show of the season. Quite naturally the breeders hesitate to travel the stock they have so carefully prepared for the most important show of the lot before it is necessary. However short the distance, a certain amount of the hardly acquired bloom is sure to be lost and chances lessened for the coveted ticket bearing the Royal Arms. The Royal Agricultural Society of New Zealand will no doubt receive representations hereon in the near future.
Preparations for the Manawatu Show are well forward, both on the grounds and in the office, and all that now is needed is fine weather and a big attendance. Intending visitors should at once see about their accommodation, as Palmerston North is very full at showtime.
