BRISK BIDDING. The Now Zealand Loan and .Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., Hawera branch, report:— At _ ilraramea on Wednesday we held > * fortnightly sale and annual Bull Fair. A very heavy yarding of all classes of stock was submitted. The bidding was exceptionally brisk, and everything was sold under the hammer at very satisfactory prices to vendors. We quote: — Fat hoggets, to 345; full-mouth wethers, to 30s; small black face hoggets, from 18s to 24s 6d:. best springing heifers, from £8 10s to £ll 15s; inferior sorts, from £5 to £7 10s; store cows, from £3 10s to £4 4s; aged cows, from £1 10s to £2 ss; best 2-year maiden Jersey bulls, from 14 gins, to 16 gns.; good 2-year maiden Jersey bulls, from 10 gns. to 13 gns).; 2-year Holstein bulls, 10 gns.; sows to farrow, from £2 10s to £3; store pigs, from 32s Od to 41s; weaner pigs, from 20s to 28s. At Hawera on Tuesday , we held, in conjunction with R. Morrisey and Company, a pedigree Jersey Bull Fair under the auspices of the Hawera Jersey Cattle Club. A fair entry was submitted, and .prices were satisfactory to vendors. We quote: 2-year pedigree bulls, from 16 gns. to 21 gns.; yearling pedigree bulls, 12 gns. to 16 gns; pedigree cows, to 30 gns.; yearling pedigree heifers, up to 14 gns. At Eltham on Wednesday we held our usual sale. A medium yarding was sold at satisfactory prices. Store cows. £2 6s to £3 4s; springing heifers, from £6 10s to £8 10s; yearling heifers, to £5 2s 6d; 2-year Jersey bulls, to 13 gns.; weaner pigs, to 20s. At Hawera on Thursday we held our fortnightly sale, when a good yarding of all classes of stock was submitted to a good attendance of buyers. Prices were satisfactory, and bidding was very keen, especially on store cattle. We quote:—Fat cows, from £8 to £& 10s; forward cows, from £4 10s to £6; empty cows, from £3 5s to £4 10s; aged cows, from £1 5s to £2 ss; dairy cows, (sound), £9 10s to £l2; choice heifers (calved and close-up), £lO to £l3; yearling heifers, from £3 2s to £4 4s; 2-year Jersey bulls, fro pill gns. to 15 gns; heavy store pigs, from £2 1to £3 10s; medium store pigs, from 32s to 40s; weaner pigs, from 18s to 265.
At Waverley on Friday we conducted our fortnightly sale. Prices were on a par with recent sales. We quote: Store cows, £3 to £4 3s; aged cows, £1 5s to £2 ss; 4-year steers, to £8 10s; 3-year steers, to £7 15s; inferior springing heifers, £4 10s to £7 10s; store pigs, to 40s.
