AMUSEMENTS, MEETINGS, ETC.

HIS MAJESTY’S. “THE BELOVED BRUTE.” “The Beloved Brute” is a picture of open spaces, the dance hall, the travelling circus and a near-lynching bee. It is filled with exciting situations that grow upon the mountain sides and plains. It features Marguerite de la Motte, Victor MclJaglen, William Russell, Mary Alden and Stuart Holmes. Two brothers love the same dance hall girl, and one saves the other from being lynched by claiming to have committed la murder. In the final? the girl saves them both by proving neither of them committed it, The photodrama is an adaptation from the famous novel by Kenneth Perkins made into a screen production by J. Stuart Blackton. “The Heart of a Rose” is another big attractive picture and with the usual supports, helped to put the huge holiday audience in a rdal good humour. Ring 2863 for reserves,

EXTRA SPECIAL TO-MORROW The fastest sight-seeing tour on record occurs in Reginald Denny’s latest Universal-Jewel feature, “I’ll Show You the Town,” coming to His Majesty’s Theatre to-morrow (Wednesday). With just thirty minutes in which to show a wealthy widow the sights of the town, Denny accomplishes the unusual feat in less than a quarter of an hour. Tho customary rubber-neck-wagon or Rolls Royce was discarded by the star who rejoiced in the opportunity to ride his old hobby-horso —his airplane-. Cissy Fitzgerald, who plays one of the character leads in tho production, was given the thrill of her life as Denny’s companion in a hurried flight over a metropolitan city. “I’ll. Show You the Town,” adapted from Elmer Davis’ rollicking novel of the same name, is the story of a young professor who is placed in a strange pro dicament of having to show three different women the sights of the town at the same time, keeping each of the women in ignorance of the other’s existence. Denny is supported by a notable cast including Marian Nixon, Edward Kimball, Lilyan Tashman, Hayden Stevenson, Cissy Fitzgerald, Margaret Livingston, Neely Edwards, William A. Carroll, Martha Mattox, Helen Greene and Lionel Braham. The production was made under the direction of Harry A. Pollard. There are plenty of other good pictures on the programme, too! So to avoid disappoinment book your seats at Upton’s, or telephone His Majesty’s Theatre, 2863.
