This is not so. It is true that the resources of the State are security for the acts of the Public Trustee, but in the course of long years of careful and economical management reserve funds have been built up which have practically relievI ed the Government from any liability under the State guarantee. ’ The charges for the safe service to the thousands of beneficiaries are low, but the huge volume of business enables the office to make pro- . fits. Gradually during successive years the reserves built up out of r profits have reached a sum exceeding £605,000.
