EXHIBITION ATTRACTIONS

BIG GOVERNMENT DISPLAY. Among hundreds of unique features at the New Zealand and South Seas International Exhibition, which will be opened in Dunedin by tho GovernorGeneral in three weeks’ time, is the big pavilion occupied by the New Zealand Government with a remarkable display, the result of co-operation by fifteen Government Departments. Tho unique scenic attractions of the Dominion will be displayed by the Tourist Department by means of splendid photographs and illustrations, and the country’s sporting resources will be represented by full-sized specimens of stuffed deer, thar, charnels, and other game, and by one of the finest collections of deer head, ever displayed. One of the most striking features of the court is also devoted to depicting the charm of New Zealanders’ country. It is a big model of Milford Sound, showing Mitre Peak, specially made for the Government by a London artist. Probably one of the first things which tho visitor will notice is an aeroplane suspended among the rafters, to show it in fighting order, with the bombs tucked under the wings. A second aeroplane, field guns, mines, and other weapons of war are shown by the Defence Department. The Railway Department has a length of standard track to demonstrate the working of the automatic safety signalling, points and crossing, and tho Public Works De-, partment shows interesting models of bridges and hydro-clectric stations and other big public works. In another pavilion locomotives and the latest in sleeping cars are on view. Among the .other Departments represented in this splendid pavilion are the Post and Telegraph, which features a most interesting exhibit of telegraph, tiephone and wireless apparatus, tho Mines Department, which shows a working model of a mine shaft, the Forestry and Agricultural Departments (the latter has experimental plots just outside the building) and the Department of Industries and Commerce, which displays a remarkable coloured poster showing on one large canvas the history of the Dominion since the days of its occupation by the Maoris.
