Mr. Bogers dealt exhaustively with the land question, contending that the ‘‘usehold’' policy was the best for all classes of the community. The rural lands of New Zealand totalled something like 43,000,000 acres, with slightly over 86,000 holders. Of the latter less than 7000 held among them nearly 30.000.000 out of the 43,000,000 acres, but 60 of these held 5,000,000 acres between them (an average of more than 80.000 acres each) and there were r early 80,000 who femong them held less than 14,000,000 acres. Estates over £20,000 in value would receive attention when Labour was in office. The policy of the party was a land tenure based on the occupation and use of the land and designed to secure to the working farmer the full fruits of his labour and exertions. Land should not he sold or transferred except to the State, but the Lands Transfer Department would continue to operate until the property came within the scope of the party’s policy. Until the farmers end owners of cottages would not be debarred from transferring their properties. All transfers would have to le dono through the Lands Transfer Department fen-l no tra king in State mortgagee would be permitted, which that the costly medium of land agency would be done at a medium cost. Various other planks of the party’s pitform were touched upon, and at the Termination of the meeting a vote o* thanks and confidence in the candidate was carried. MR. P FRASER’S VISIT.
