INDEPENDENT WATERSIDERS
EMPLOYERS’ RETALIATION. GISBORNE, Oct. 21. On the arrival of the steamer Wingatui from Auckland yesterday afternoon, the watersiders declined to answer the call for labour, the explanation given being that they desired to reserve themselves for the Port Darwin, Arriving to-day. The steamer was accordingly sent on to Napier, ovorcarrying cargo transhipped from the Wainui at Auckland. The cargo will again have to bo transhipped, not reaching hero before next Thursday.
