GREECE AND BULGARIA APPEAL CONFLICTING STORIES REGARDING FIGHTING EVACUATION OF TEN BULGARIAN VILLAGES REPORTED The frontier conflict which took place last week between Greek and Bulgarian troops has led to an appeal to the League of Nations, both parties having approached Geneva. Reports regarding the position are conflicting. On one hand It Is stated that Bulgars have entered Greek territory and on the other that Greeks have penetrated Bulgaria on a wide front. It is also reported that they have resumed heavy artillery fire, which has resulted in the evacuation of villages and the open air camping of thousands of peasants.

BULGARIA PENETRATED GREEKS ADVANCE ON WIDE FRONT. Received October 25, 5.5 p.m. GENEVA, Oct, 23. A further telegram addressed to the League, from the Bulgarian Governmeut, states that tho Greeks’ combined operations penetrated Bulgarian territory on a thirty-two kilometre front to a depth of ten kilometres, and adds:— “Bulgarian losses so far are three killed and six officers and one soldier wounded, and seven missing, while seven residents of the undefended town of Pctritch were wounded as a result of the artillery bombardment.”

CROSSING OF GREEK FRONTIER BULGARS DENY REPORT. Received October 25, 5.5 p.m. SOFIA, Oct. 24. A report from Athens that Bulgars have occupied Greek territory is officially denied. The statement adds that not a single Bulgar has crossed the frontier. FIRST COMMUNICATION TO LEAGUE MADE BY GREECE. Received Oct. 26, 12.5 a.m. GENEVA, Oct. 25. The first communication received by the League Secretariat from Greece complains of Bulgarian troops occupy ing a blockhouse in Greek territory.

Sofia reports further Greek artillery firing yesterday, and an advance of Greek units. The Bulgars have up to the present evacuated ten villages, of which seven have been occupied by Greeks. Thousands of refugees are camping al fresco.

GREECE’S REPRESENTATIVES LEAGUE SECRETARIAT ADVISED. Received Oct. 26, 12.4 a.m. GENEVA, Oct. 25. Greece informed the League Secretariat that tho Minister at Paris, assisted by three military representatives from Greece, would attend the Council’s deliberations on the Greco-Bul-garian conflict.
